During the last years, the European startup ecosystem has been in constant growth. 12:00 - 12:30 Research and evaluation showcase
Measuring impact is a very important part of our work, but knowing what to measure and how is not an easy task. This session will provide an overview on some of the research happening in the space.
Speakers: Robin Wauters (Tech.eu) - moderator, Jed Christiansen (Seed-DB), Jessica Stacey (Nesta), Carlos Espinal (Seedcamp)
12:30 - 13:00 Panel: Financing accelerators
European accelerators are based on very similar funding and revenue models. In this panel, we’ll have a look at the established models and discuss alternative opportunities, such as engaging new types of investors and public finance sectors.
Speakers: Carlos Espinal (Seedcamp) - moderator, Bindi Karia (Silicon Valley Bank), Matthias Ummenhofer (EIF), Alan Clayton (SOS Ventures), Paul Miller (Bethnal Green Ventures), Jeff Lynn (Seedrs)
13:00 - 14:00 Lunch
14:00 - 14:30 Panel: How to work with corporations
We see a rise in corporations’ interest towards supporting and engaging with startups. From those who launch and support their own accelerator networks, to those who support specific vertical cohorts of self-established accelerators. This panel will debate subjects like: what makes a successful corporate programme; how do you foster relationships with corporations; how do you balance the interests of the startups with the interests of the corporate.
Speakers: Ivan Brezak Brkan (Netokracija) - moderator, Alberto Onetti (Mind the Bridge), Hugo de los Santos (Wayra – Telefonica), Jakob Pranter (ProSiebenSat.1 Accelerator)
14:30 - 15:00 Panel: Plugging the gap
With the increasing number of accelerators starting up in Europe, where are the support gaps? Accelerators don’t operate in isolation. How can they work with other programmes / support initiatives to create a healthy startup ecosystem? We’ll have a talk about the role of hack weekends, pre-accelerator programmes, co-working spaces and startup communities.
Speakers: Ivan Brezak Brkan (Netokracija) - moderator, Deborah Rippol (UP Global & Startup Weekend) - replaced by Franziska Becker (UP Global @ Startup Weekend)), Bogdan Iordache (How to Web & TechHub Bucharest), Juho Kokkola (Startup Sauna), Rob Fitzpatrick (FounderCentric)
15:00 - 15:30 Panel: Financing startups
After graduating from an accelerator, startups almost always start looking for further funding. What kind of support do they need and how can accelerators work with other stakeholders to help startups achieve their funding goals?
Speakers: Alex Barrera (Tech.eu) - moderator, Dilyan Dimitrov (Eleven Startup Accelerator), Miguel Angel Lopez Trujillo (FundedByMe), Sitar Teli (ConnectVentures), Sean Kane (F6S), Philippe Gluntz (Business Angels Europe)
15:30 - 16:00 Coffee break
16:00 - 16:30 Presentation and Q&A: European Commission future initiatives
The European Commission and its Startup Europe initiative play a key role in strengthening the environment for entrepreneurs in the EU. In this session, we’ll learn more about the European Commission’s upcoming initiatives to support the European accelerators ecosystem, and as well as find out more about working with the EU and applying for future programmes.
Speaker: Isidro Laso (European Commission)
